Benzoyl Peroxide is used in the treatment of Acne.
Oxigel Wash 5% belongs to the class of antibacterial agents and is primarily used to treat bacterial skin infections, specifically acne. Acne occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells.
Benzoyl Peroxide: Kills bacteria, reduces inflammation, unplugs blocked pores, and releases oxygen upon application, acting as a bactericidal agent.
- Decomposes to release oxygen, killing Propionibacterium acnes (acne-causing bacteria).
- Increases the turnover rate of epithelial cells, aiding in skin peeling and treating comedones (skin-colored bumps due to acne).
- A mild drying effect facilitates the removal of excess oils and dirt from the skin.
- External use only.
- Avoid contact with eyes, eyelids, lips, mouth, and nose. Rinse immediately if contact occurs.
- Do not use on sunburned, windburned, dry, or irritated skin.
- Dry skin, skin redness (erythema), burning sensation, itching, skin irritation, swelling, blistering, crusting, and skin rash.
- Inform your doctor about other medications, including vitamins, before using.
- Skin may become more sensitive to sunlight, so use sunscreen and protective clothing outdoors.
- Take care when applying on sensitive areas like the neck.
- Avoid contact with hair or fabrics due to bleaching properties.
- Limit the use of alcohol-containing products, hair removal products, and those with lime or spices.
