Bilastine/Tinabil 20 is an antihistamine used to treat allergic symptoms such as itching, swelling, and rashes. It is most effective when taken one hour before or two hours after meals. Follow your doctor’s advice regarding the dose and duration of the treatment.
Bilastine, the active ingredient in Tinabil, is a potent, selective, and non-sedating antihistamine. It works by blocking H1 receptors with high affinity—three times higher than cetirizine and five times higher than fexofenadine. Even at high doses, Bilastine does not interact with over 30 other receptors, including muscarinic, serotonergic, dopaminergic, and noradrenergic receptors, or other histamine receptor subtypes (H2, H3, H4).
It has a strong safety profile and excellent pharmacokinetic characteristics. Bilastine does not require metabolic activation and is primarily excreted through feces (66.35%) and urine (28.31%).
Tinabil is used for the symptomatic treatment of:
- Allergic rhino-conjunctivitis (both seasonal and perennial).
- Urticaria (hives).
Additionally, it helps alleviate symptoms of hay fever, such as sneezing, itchy and runny nose, nasal congestion, and red, watery eyes.
Use this medication only under the guidance of a registered physician.
