Description

Eltropag 25 is indicated for the treatment of:

  • Chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) in adult and pediatric patients who have had an insufficient response to corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy.
  • Thrombocytopenia in chronic Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection allows the initiation and maintenance of interferon-based therapy.
  • Severe aplastic anemia (SAA) in adults who are refractory to other treatments or as first-line therapy in combination with immunosuppressants.
  • If a dose is missed, skip it and take the next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose.

Eltrombopag is a small-molecule agonist of the thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor. It binds to the transmembrane domain of the TPO receptor (c-Mpl) on megakaryocyte precursors in the bone marrow, promoting megakaryocyte proliferation and differentiation, ultimately increasing platelet production.
