Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent that inhibits the activation of plasminogen, thereby reducing fibrinolysis and controlling bleeding. It is 10 times more potent than conventional hemostatics and provides prolonged effects with lower doses. It does not interfere with normal clotting processes and is primarily excreted by the kidneys.
