Description

Oxiplat, in combination with infusional 5-fluorouracil/folinic acid, is used for:

  1. Adjuvant Treatment: Stage III colon cancer in patients who have undergone complete surgical removal of the primary tumor.
  2. Treatment of Advanced Colorectal Cancer.

Always take this medication under the supervision of a registered medical practitioner.

Day 1:

  • Oxaliplatin: 85 mg/m² IV infusion in 250–500 mL of 5% Dextrose over 2 hours.
  • Folinic Acid: 200 mg/m² IV infusion over 2 hours.
  • 5-Fluorouracil:
    • 400 mg/m² IV bolus over 2–4 minutes.
    • Followed by 600 mg/m² IV infusion over 22 hours.

Day 2:

  • Folinic Acid: Same as Day 1.
  • 5-Fluorouracil: Same as Day 1.

Oxiplat 100 Infusion contains Oxaliplatin, a chemotherapy drug used primarily for the treatment of colon and rectal cancers.

OXIPLAT 50 INJECTION is indicated for:

  1. Adjuvant treatment of Stage III colon cancer: Used after the primary tumor has been removed, often in combination with 5-fluorouracil and folinic acid.
  2. Metastatic colorectal cancer: For cases where the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
  • Inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems as this can affect your treatment.
  • If you have low white blood cell counts (leukopenia), inform your healthcare provider.
  • Discuss with your doctor if you are planning to receive any vaccinations, as some vaccines may not be suitable during chemotherapy treatment.
  • Oxiplat is not recommended during pregnancy due to potential harm to the fetus.
  • It is not recommended for breastfeeding women as it may pass into breast milk and harm the baby.
  • It is not recommended for children under 18 years of age.

Both men and women undergoing Oxiplat treatment should use an effective method of contraception to avoid pregnancy during therapy.

Common Side Effects

  1. Neurological: Tingling, numbness, or abnormal sensations in body parts or the throat.
  2. Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and mouth ulcers.
  3. General: Fatigue, weight loss, headache, dizziness, and changes in taste.
  4. Dermatological: Skin rash and hair loss.
  5. Electrolyte Imbalance: Low blood calcium levels.
