The drug comes in tablet form (30 mg hydrochloride) and syrup form (15 mg ambroxol hydrochloride per 15 ml). Its action begins quickly, usually within 30 minutes after intake. Ambroxol is clinically proven to make sputum thinner and less viscous, effectively treating cough. It is also used to treat inflammatory pulmonary conditions, bronchitis, bronchospasm asthma, and pneumoconiosis.
