- Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
- Depression
Anafranil 25 is a tricyclic antidepressant used in adults to treat Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). It also addresses muscular weakness (cataplexy) associated with narcolepsy and can manage depression unresponsive to other medications. Anafranil 25 increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain to stabilize and enhance mood. It is best taken before bedtime as it can induce sleepiness. Consistency in timing helps ensure better efficacy. Do not skip doses and finish the full course of treatment. Stopping the medication suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms. Common side effects include indigestion, loss of appetite, dry mouth, nausea, and constipation. Initially, it may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, dizziness, and sleepiness. If you experience severe side effects, consult your doctor immediately.
