Therapeutic Class: Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor (SNRI). Vintelix is prescribed for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults.
Vortioxetine’s exact antidepressant mechanism is not fully known. However, its action is believed to stem from enhancing serotonergic activity by inhibiting serotonin (5-HT) reuptake. Additionally, it exhibits 5-HT3 receptor antagonism and 5-HT1A receptor agonism, contributing to its therapeutic effects in MDD.
