Description

Itraconazole inhibits ergosterol synthesis by interfering with fungal cytochrome P450, disrupting the fungal cell membrane, and causing fungal cell death. It covers Candida, Aspergillus, Cryptococcus, Histoplasma, Blastomyces, Sporothrix, Malassezia, Coccidioides, Paracoccidioides, and even some protozoa (Leishmania).

  • Always complete the full course, even if symptoms improve early.
  • Take at the same time daily with food.
  • Avoid antacids within 2 hours of dosing.
  • Women should use effective contraception during treatment.
