Lescol XL is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used as an adjunctive therapy to diet for:
- Primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia (Adults):

- Increases HDL-C levels.
- Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (Children aged 10–16):
- Reduces elevated TC, LDL-C, and Apo B after failing dietary therapy.
- Clinically evident CHD:
- Reduces the risk of revascularization procedures.
- Atherosclerosis in CHD patients:
- Slows its progression.
Lescol XL 80 Tablet (Fluvastatin) is a statin medication primarily used to:
- Lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides (TG) levels in the blood.
- Increase good cholesterol (HDL) levels.
- Reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes by preventing cholesterol buildup in the arteries.
High cholesterol levels (hyperlipidemia or dyslipidemia) can cause arterial narrowing or blockages, leading to coronary heart disease, strokes, or heart attacks. Lescol XL 80 Tablet helps manage cholesterol levels, thereby lowering these risks.
How Lescol XL 80 Tablet Works:
The active ingredient, Fluvastatin, inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme in the liver responsible for cholesterol synthesis.
- Reduces LDL (bad cholesterol) production.
- Decreases cholesterol buildup in major blood vessels of the brain and heart.
- Minimizes the risk of atherosclerosis, stroke, and heart attacks.
