Tetrazin 25mg Tablet is used in the treatment of chorea (abnormal, jerky, or involuntary movements) associated with Huntington’s disease, an inherited condition in which the nerve cells in the brain become damaged.Â
Tetrazin 25mg Tablet contains Tetrabenazine, which belongs to the group of medicines called Vesicular monoamine transporter 2 inhibitors. It is primarily used to treat hyperkinetic motor disorders associated with Huntington’s chorea, an inherited neurodegenerative disease characterized by jerky, irregular, and uncontrollable movements.
It’s important to note that Tetrazin 25mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients allergic to Tetrabenazine. Additionally, it should not be used in individuals with Parkinson-like symptoms, depression, active suicidal thoughts, pheochromocytoma (tumor of the adrenal gland), or kidney disorders.
Before starting treatment with Tetrazin 25mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you have any intolerance to certain sugars (such as lactose), heart problems like long QT syndrome heart rhythm disorders, or liver problems ranging from mild to severe hepatic disorders.
Caution should be exercised when using Tetrazin 25mg Tablet during pregnancy or in women planning for pregnancy, only if deemed necessary by the physician. However, it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.
This medication is not suitable for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. For elderly patients aged 65 years and above, Tetrazin 25mg Tablet should be used with caution after consulting a doctor.
