Ratinol Forte is indicated for conditions arising from Vitamin A deficiency, including:
- Ophthalmologic: Night blindness, xerophthalmia
- Dermatologic: Skin, hair, and nail disorders; acne vulgaris, ichthyosis, Darier’s disease, psoriasis
- Mucosal/Respiratory: Sinusitis, bronchitis
Other uses: Supporting growth, enhancing immunity, prophylaxis of measles, and replenishing Vitamin A after diarrhoea or malnutrition
Vitamin A compounds (retinol, retinal, beta-carotene) provide effective antixerophthalmic and vitamin A activity.
Retinal combines with opsin in the retina to form rhodopsin, essential for dark adaptation and vision.
Vitamin A maintains epithelial integrity, supports growth, and enhances immune defense.
Absorption occurs in the gastrointestinal tract and requires bile salts, pancreatic lipase, and dietary fat.
Stored mainly in the liver as retinol palmitate; normal adult liver stores suffice for ~2 years.
