Zometa

Zometa (zoledronic acid) is indicated for the following conditions:

• Hypercalcemia of Malignancy: It is used to treat high levels of calcium in the blood due to cancer.
• Bone Metastases Associated with Solid Tumors: Zometa is used to treat bone metastases, which are secondary cancerous growths that have spread to the bones from primary tumors in other parts of the body.
• Osteolytic Lesions Associated with Multiple Myeloma: Zometa is used to treat osteolytic lesions, which are bone lesions caused by multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow.
• Corticosteroid-Induced Osteoporosis: It is used to prevent or treat osteoporosis caused by long-term use of corticosteroid medications.
• Increase Bone Mass in Men with Osteoporosis: Zometa is used to increase bone density in men with osteoporosis, a condition characterized by weakened bones and an increased risk of fractures.
• Osteoporosis in Postmenopausal Women: It is used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, a condition characterized by decreased bone density and increased risk of fractures after menopause.
• Paget’s Disease of Bone: Zometa is used to treat Paget’s disease of bone, a chronic bone disorder characterized by abnormal bone remodeling, leading to bone pain, deformities, and other complications.
• Prophylaxis of Postmenopausal Osteoporosis: It is used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, reducing the risk of fractures.
