Zapenia is prescribed for:
- Treatment-resistant schizophrenia in patients who do not respond to or cannot tolerate conventional antipsychotics.
- Managing psychosis associated with Parkinson’s disease.
Clozapine belongs to the atypical antipsychotic class and has a unique receptor binding profile. It interacts with dopamine receptors (D1, D2, D3, D5) but shows higher selectivity for D4 receptors, which may explain its reduced risk of extrapyramidal side effects.
