Plarit 90 Tablet is used for: Prevention of thrombotic events, [cardiovascular death (CV), myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke] in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) [unstable angina, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) or ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)]; including patients managed with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
Plarit 90 contains ticagrelor, which belongs to the group of medicines called antiplatelet agents. It is used to reduce the rate of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, and stroke in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or a history of myocardial infarction. It also reduces the rate of stent thrombosis in patients who have been stented for the management of ACS.
Ticagrelor stops the clumping of blood cells called platelets, which is responsible for clot formation in diseased blood vessels of the heart and brain, and thus reduces the chances of a blood clot formation. It can be taken with or without food.
Avoid concomitant use of ticagrelor and other oral anticoagulants like heparin or warfarin, as it may increase the risk of side effects. Do not take this medicine if you are suffering from any bleeding disorders or liver problems. This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in children aged below 18 years. The most common side effects of taking this medicine are bleeding and bruising.
