Generic Name:Â Domperidone Maleate 10mg
Manufacturer/Distributor: Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd.Â
Indications
A prescription medication called Motigut 10 is used to treat nausea, vomiting, non-ulcer dyspepsia, heartburn with or without regurgitation of gastric contents into the mouth, and indigestion. It inhibits the brain chemical that causes nausea and vomiting while also enhancing food flow in the stomach to enhance digestion. Before meals, take Motigut 10 at the dose and time recommended by the doctor.
Pharmacology
Motigut may be a dopamine antagonist that primarily targets the stomach’s and the Chemoreceptor rigger Zone’s (CTZ) dopamine receptors. Its gastroprokinetic function is dependent on the dopamine receptors it blocks, which affect gastrointestinal tract motility. Domperidone has a negligible effect on the dopaminergic receptors in the brain because of its inability to cross the blood-brain barrier; as a result, it has no psychotropic or neurologic adverse effects. Domperidone improves antral and duodenal peristalsis, restores normal upper gastrointestinal tract motility and tone, and inhibits pylorus withdrawal. It also promotes gastric purge. Domperidone also increases esophageal peristalsis and decreases the weight of the esophageal sphincter, preventing the release of gastric contents.
