Dexamox Ophthalmic Solution (Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride + Dexamethasone) Â
Each 1 mL contains:
- Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP (equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5 mg)
- Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP (equivalent to Dexamethasone Phosphate 1 mg)
Moxifloxacin is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair.
Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation. It contains a methyl group at the 16-alpha position and a fluorine atom at the 9-alpha position, enhancing its potency. It has anti-allergic, anti-exudative, and anti-proliferative effects. It works by inhibiting phospholipase A2, which prevents the production of inflammatory prostaglandins. Additionally, it reduces neutrophil infiltration at inflammation sites.
