Hydromer Ophthalmic Gel, enriched with Carbomer 980, provides long-lasting lubrication for patients experiencing ocular discomfort and dry eye symptoms. Its formulation helps maintain moisture on the eye surface for extended relief.
Hypromellose is a semi-synthetic, inert, and viscoelastic polymer that acts as an artificial tear and ophthalmic lubricant. It moisturizes and protects the cornea and conjunctiva, helping reduce irritation, dryness, and discomfort caused by inadequate tear production or eyelid dysfunction.
Ophthalmic Gel
- Instill 1–2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) as needed.
- Generally used 1–3 times daily depending on the severity of symptoms.
- May be used more frequently if required.
Drug Interaction
Hydromer may be used while wearing contact lenses. However, no specific compatibility studies with lens materials are available.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Hypromellose or any component of the formulation or container.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
- Temporary blurred vision
- Mild burning or stinging sensation after application
Rarely reported effects include:
- Redness of the eyes
- Allergic reactions
- Irritation after instillation
Hydromer gel with Carbomer 980 is generally well tolerated.
Pregnancy & Lactation
There is limited information regarding the safety of Hypromellose during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been fully established.
Precautions & Warnings
- Discontinue use and consult a physician if you experience:
- Eye pain
- Persistent redness or irritation
- Changes in vision
- Do not use the product if the solution becomes cloudy or changes color.
- Avoid touching the tip of the dropper or tube to any surface to prevent contamination.
- Discard the product one month after opening.
