Darmalar N (0.025%)

Darmalar N belongs to a group of medicine called steroids. It is used in the treatment of skin conditions associated with inflammation and itching. It provides relief from swelling, redness, and itching in the affected area. Darmalar N is only meant for external use and should be used as advised by your doctor. You should normally wash and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of the medicine. Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with plenty of water in case of accidental contact. Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor. Using of the medicine may cause burning sensation, irritation, redness, and swelling at the site of application. These are temporary and usually go away with time. However, if they persist or worsen, let your doctor know. The medicine is not recommended for pregnant women. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctors before using this medicine.

How to use Darmalar N

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

How Darmalar N works

Darmalar N is a steroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy.

• Darmalar N is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort of various skin conditions.
• It should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
• Don’t use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor.
• Don’t cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
• If you think the area of skin you are treating has become infected you should stop using Darmalar N and consult your doctor.
• Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after four weeks of treatment. Do not use it for more than 4 consecutive weeks at a time.

Adult Dose

Topical/Cutaneous Corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, Inflammatory/Pruritic Dermatoses, Eczemas, Lichen Planus, Burns Adult: Apply onto affected area(s) 2-4 times daily.

Contraindication

Primary infectious (bacterial, viral, fungal) ulcers, hypersensitivity, acne vulgaris. Neonates.

Mode of Action

Fluocinolone acetonide is a synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid that is used topically for its anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive properties.

Precaution

Children, elderly, hepatic failure. Prolonged use on the face; contact with eyes. Pregnancy, lactation. Lactation: excretion in milk unknown; use with caution

Side Effect

Prolonged admin causes epidermal thinning, telangiectasia and striae (especially face and flexures). Application on eyelid and surrounding skin can cause raised intraocular pressure, cataracts, glaucoma, corneal ulcers and raised intracranial pressure. Systemic absorption with adrenal suppression may be seen when applied over large areas, when skin is broken or under occlusive dressing. Contact dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, papular disorder, mild depigmentation.
