Indications
This medication treats and/or prevents vitamin and mineral deficiencies caused by restricted diets, incorrect food consumption, intoxication, and impaired absorption. It is also beneficial for people who require additional vitamins and minerals due to acute or chronic illnesses, pregnancy, lactation, menopause, infections, antibiotic therapy, convalescence, and other factors. To avoid the emergence of major birth abnormalities, this tablet must be taken periconceptionally (from three months before conception until the first trimester of pregnancy).
Pharmacology
Vitamins and minerals are required for normal metabolic processes, including hematopoiesis. Vitamin B-group members are enzyme system components that regulate various stages of carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism, each with a distinct biological function. Vitamin C promotes tissue healing and collagen formation. Vitamin A is required for proper retinal function as well as epithelial tissue growth and differentiation. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that aids in the protection of essential cellular components. Vitamin D supplementation is used to treat hypoparathyroidism, as well as to prevent and treat nutritional and metabolic rickets. Iron and copper.
Dosage & Administration
- Orally one tablet daily for adults and children over 5 years of age or as directed by the physicians.
Side Effects
Side effects have been reported with specific vitamins & minerals but at levels substantially higher than those in this tablet. Iron has been associated with gastrointestinal intolerance in some patients.
Pregnancy & Lactation
During the first trimester of pregnancy, recommended daily dose should not be exceeded. Because larger doses of Vitamin-A (multiple tablets per day) may be teratogenic.
Precautions & Warnings
Not intended for the treatment of pernicious anemia or other megaloblastic anemia where vitamin B12 is deficient.
