Tadalafil is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (a condition that occurs when a man has difficulty getting and/or keeping an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse).Â
Tadalafil is classified as a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor and is primarily used to treat:
- Erectile Dysfunction (Impotence): It helps men achieve and maintain an erection suitable for sexual activity.
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): It alleviates urinary symptoms associated with prostate enlargement.
- Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH): It relaxes blood vessels in the chest to reduce blood pressure in the lungs.
- Tadalafil relaxes blood vessels in the penis, allowing increased blood flow when a person is sexually aroused, which helps in treating erectile dysfunction.
- It also relaxes the bladder and prostate muscles, reducing symptoms related to an enlarged prostate.
- For PAH, it increases blood supply to the lungs and decreases the heart’s workload by relaxing blood vessels.
