Losart Plus Tablet is a combination medication used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). It is also prescribed to lower the risk of stroke in patients who have hypertension along with left ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of the heart’s left ventricle). The tablet contains Losartan Potassium, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic.
Inform your healthcare provider if you are taking:
- Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone, amiloride, triamterene), which may increase potassium levels.
- NSAIDs such as indomethacin, which may reduce the blood pressure-lowering effect.
- Other antihypertensive medicines, which may further lower blood pressure.
- Insulin or oral antidiabetic medications, as dosage adjustments may be necessary.
- Alcohol, barbiturates, or narcotics, which may increase the risk of dizziness and low blood pressure.
- Cholestyramine or colestipol, which can reduce hydrochlorothiazide absorption.
