A-Flox is an antibiotic primarily used for treating infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, especially those due to penicillinase-producing staphylococci. The common infections it treats include:
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Such as boils, abscesses, carbuncles, and other infected skin conditions like ulcers, eczema, acne, cellulitis, infected wounds, burns, otitis media and externa (ear infections), and impetigo.
- Respiratory Tract Infections: Including pneumonia, lung abscess, empyema, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and quinsy.
- Other Infections: Effective against osteomyelitis (bone infections), enteritis, endocarditis, urinary tract infections, meningitis, and septicemia.
- Surgical Prophylaxis: Used in specific major surgeries, like cardiothoracic and orthopedic procedures, to prevent infection.
