Amloten is a fixed-dose combination medication containing amlodipine and atenolol, used in the management of:
- Essential hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Patients with both hypertension and angina pectoris
- Post-myocardial infarction (post-heart attack) patients
- Refractory angina pectoris when nitrate therapy has been ineffective
This combination helps control blood pressure while also reducing the workload on the heart and relieving angina symptoms.

Amlodipine
Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits the entry of calcium into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells. Its primary effects include:

Atenolol

- Lowering myocardial oxygen demand
