Bisoren is used to treat:
✔ Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
✔ Angina (Chest Pain)
✔ Moderate to Severe Heart Failure
🚫 Not recommended for emergency treatment of hypertensive crises.
Bisoren (Bisoprolol) is a highly selective β1-blocker used for hypertension, angina, and heart failure. It offers once-daily dosing with minimal fluctuations in drug levels.Â
Bisoprolol is the most selective β1-blocker available. It selectively blocks β1-adrenergic receptors in the heart and vascular smooth muscle, reducing:
- Heart rate
- Cardiac output
- Blood pressure
✔ Unlike non-selective beta-blockers, Bisoprolol does not negatively affect lipid metabolism (cholesterol levels).
✔ It has a long half-life (10-12 hours), allowing for once-daily dosing with minimal fluctuations in blood levels.
Pharmacokinetics
✔ Absorption: Rapid absorption (>90%) from the GI tract, bioavailability 88%.
✔ Metabolism: Mainly metabolized in the liver (CYP3A4 pathway), but does not require conjugation.
✔ Elimination: Balanced between renal excretion (50%) and hepatic metabolism (50%).
✔ Half-life: 10–12 hours, supporting once-daily dosing.
