Cefixime is an Antibiotic that belongs to the Cephalosporin group. It is used to treat various bacterial infections like urinary tract, ear, and lung infections. Cefixime works by killing the bacteria responsible for the infections, but it is not effective against viral infections.

Cefixime is available in capsule, tablet, chewable, powder for suspension, and syrup form and is usually taken once a day. It is not recommended for use in children under six months of age. The entire course of the medication should be completed, even if the symptoms have improved, to avoid antibiotic resistance.
Cefixime is generally safe for pregnant women but should only be used with a doctor’s prescription. It can pass into breast milk and may cause diarrhea in the child, so it may not be recommended for use during breastfeeding.
