Ceftron injection is used to treat the following major infections:
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Acute bacterial otitis media
- Skin and skin structure infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Gonorrhea
- Bacterial septicemia
- Bone and joint infections
- Meningitis
- Prevention of postoperative infections
- Perioperative prophylaxis for infections associated with surgery

Ceftriaxone, a third-generation broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic, exhibits potent bactericidal activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. It works by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Ceftriaxone is highly stable against beta-lactamase enzymes. A key feature is its long plasma half-life of 6–9 hours, allowing for once-daily administration in most cases. The drug is not metabolized and is primarily excreted unchanged via urine (40–65%) and bile. Approximately 95% of Ceftriaxone binds to plasma proteins.
