Zuclopenthixol belongs to the group of medicines called neuroleptic agents. It is indicated for the management of schizophrenia and other psychotic illnesses. Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder characterized by extremely disordered thinking, hallucinations, delusions, and abnormal behavior that affects your daily functioning.
Zuclopenthixol acts on nerve pathways in specific areas of the brain and restores the balance of certain chemical substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain that cause the symptoms of schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. Avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine as it may increase the side effects such as drowsiness and dizziness.
Take Zuclopenthixol continuously at regular intervals even if you feel completely well, because the underlying illness may persist for a long time. The most common side effects of taking this medicine are injection site reactions, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, mental problems, and muscle pain. They are usually temporary and disappear with time.
