Indications of Cloramin 100 ml

Chlorpheniramine Maleate is used for the following conditions:

• Urticaria
• Sensitivity reactions
• Angioneurotic edema
• Vasomotor rhinitis
• Cough
• Common cold
• Motion sickness and
• Other allergic conditions.

Pharmacology

Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antihistamine with an alkylamine structure. It is one of the most effective histamine H1-receptor-blocking medicines used as an antihistamine. This produces less sedation than promethazine. Chlorpheniramine Maleate works by competitively inhibiting the H1-receptor.

Dosage & Administration

Adult- Usual adult dose is 4 mg every 4-6 hours, a maximum of 24 mg daily.

Child-

6-12 years: 2 mg every 4-6 hours, maximum 12 mg daily.

2-5 years: 1 mg every 4-6 hours, maximum 6 mg daily.

1-2 years: 1 mg twice daily.

Below 1 year the use of Chlorpheniramine Maleate is not recommended.

Contraindications

Chlorpheniramine is not recommended for individuals who are hypersensitive to it, as well as for newborns or preterm infants.

Side Effects of Cloramin 100 ml

Chlorpheniramine is generally well-accepted, however, it might cause drowsiness, dizziness, muscle weakness, and gastrointestinal distress.

Pregnancy & Lactation

This medication should not be taken by a nursing mother or during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.

Precautions & Warnings

In individuals with glaucoma or prostatic hypertrophy, chlorpheniramine should be taken with care. Driving and operating machinery should be done with caution when on chlorpheniramine treatment.

Store in a cool (below 25°C) and dry location away from light. Keep out of children’s reach.
