Dactus|Glimepiride 2 mg Tablet
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes)

Dactus Tablet contains Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea antidiabetic medicine used to improve blood sugar control in adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is prescribed when healthy eating and regular exercise alone are not enough to manage blood glucose levels. Dactus may be used on its own or in combination with metformin or insulin when additional blood sugar control is required. Since combining it with insulin may increase the risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), careful monitoring is recommended.
Always take Dactus exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Starting dose: Usually 1 mg once daily.
- If needed, the dose may be increased gradually every 1–2 weeks based on blood glucose monitoring.
- The usual maintenance dose ranges from 1 mg to 4 mg daily, although some patients may require up to 6 mg daily.
Take the tablet immediately before or with breakfast, or before the first main meal of the day if breakfast is skipped. Swallow the tablet whole with plenty of water, and avoid skipping meals after taking your dose.
Your doctor may adjust the dose if:
- Blood sugar control improves
- Your weight or lifestyle changes
- You switch from another oral diabetes medicine
- You become more prone to low or high blood sugar
Do not take Dactus if you:
- Have Type 1 diabetes
- Have diabetic ketoacidosis or diabetic coma
- Are allergic to Glimepiride, sulfonylureas, or sulfonamides
- Have severe liver disease
- Have severe kidney impairment or are receiving dialysis
