Dancel Aloe Shampoo is indicated for the treatment and prevention of fungal conditions caused by Malassezia species (formerly Pityrosporum), including:
Pityriasis versicolor (localized)
Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Pityriasis capitis (dandruff)
Ketoconazole inhibits the fungal enzyme 14-α-sterol demethylase, a cytochrome P-450–dependent enzyme required for ergosterol synthesis. Inhibition of ergosterol production disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity, increases membrane permeability, and leads to accumulation of toxic sterol metabolites. These effects impair membrane-bound enzyme systems, ultimately inhibiting fungal growth and viability.
