Dapoxetine treats PE by inhibiting serotonin reuptake, enhancing its action at nerve receptors involved in the ejaculation reflex, which is controlled by the brain and spinal cord. It is rapidly absorbed (peak in 1–2 hrs), 42% bioavailable, and highly protein-bound. It is extensively metabolized and eliminated mainly via urine, with a half-life of about 19 hours.
Daporex is prescribed for men aged 18–64 with premature ejaculation (PE) who experience one or more of the following: persistent or recurrent ejaculation with minimal stimulation before or soon after penetration, marked distress or relationship issues due to PE, and poor control over ejaculation.
