Darbagen is indicated for the treatment of anemia caused by:

  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in patients on dialysis and those not on dialysis.
  • The effects of myelosuppressive chemotherapy, particularly when starting chemotherapy and continuing for at least two additional months.

Darbepoetin alfa is an erythropoiesis-stimulating protein produced by recombinant DNA technology in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. It is a 165-amino acid protein that differs from recombinant human erythropoietin by containing 5 N-linked oligosaccharide chains (compared to the 3 chains in recombinant human erythropoietin). These extra glycosylation sites are due to amino acid substitutions in the peptide backbone.
