Formoterol belongs to the long-acting beta-agonist family of medicines. It works by relaxing the muscles around the airways, allowing them to open up and allow you to breathe more freely. Long-acting beta agonists (such as formoterol) may infrequently raise the risk of significant (sometimes deadly) asthma-related breathing issues when administered alone.
