Duovas is indicated for the treatment of hypertension either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents to lower blood pressure. It may be used as initial therapy in patients likely to need multiple antihypertensive agents to achieve their blood pressure goals.
High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a medical condition characterized by elevated blood pressure levels. Persistent hypertension can lead to serious complications such as heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, and vision impairment. Duovas 5/20 Tablet combines amlodipine and olmesartan, which work together to lower blood pressure.
Duovas 5/20 Tablet (Antihypertensive agent) is prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) in patients who do not respond adequately to therapy with either olmesartan or amlodipine alone.
- Regular monitoring of kidney function, blood pressure, and electrolytes (e.g., potassium) is advised during treatment with Duovas 5/20 Tablet.
- Grapefruit or grapefruit juice consumption should be avoided while taking this medication to prevent unpredictable decreases in blood pressure.
- Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart disease, or if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as Duovas 5/20 Tablet may cause harm to the developing baby.
- Not recommended for use in breastfeeding women or children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
- Use with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above).
