Edemide is used for:
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Congestive heart failure
- Fluid retention (edema)
- Ascites (fluid accumulation in the abdomen)
Edemide combines two diuretics:
- Furosemide increases the elimination of sodium, chloride, potassium, and water through urine, helping reduce excess fluid and lower blood pressure.
- Spironolactone blocks the effects of aldosterone, promoting sodium and water removal while conserving potassium. This helps reduce swelling and prevents excessive potassium loss caused by other diuretics.
