Description

Ertugliflozin is a medication indicated for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to enhance glycemic control in adults.

Eltero 15 is prescribed for managing type 2 diabetes in patients who cannot achieve adequate blood sugar control through diet and exercise alone. This condition arises when the body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or when the insulin produced is ineffective.

The active ingredient in Eltero 15, Ertugliflozin, functions by inhibiting the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) enzyme found in the proximal tubules of the kidneys. This inhibition reduces the reabsorption of glucose by the kidneys and increases its excretion in urine, which subsequently helps lower blood sugar levels in individuals with diabetes.

You should take Ertugliflozin exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider and for as long as recommended based on your medical condition. Common side effects may include thrush, a burning sensation during urination, increased urination, and mild skin rashes or itchiness. These side effects are usually mild and resolve on their own, but if they persist, consult your doctor.

Avoid using Ertugliflozin if you have an allergy to any of its components. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor before starting the medication. It’s advisable to avoid alcohol while taking Ertugliflozin, as it may lead to adverse reactions. There is limited information regarding the safety of Ertugliflozin in children, so it is generally not recommended for pediatric use. Be sure to inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking and your medical history to prevent any potential interactions or side effects.
