Exiben (Cefixime trihydrate) is an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. It is indicated for the treatment of acute infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, including:
- Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI), e.g., otitis media
- Other URTI where the causative organism is known or suspected to be resistant to other antibiotics
- Lower Respiratory Tract Infections, e.g., bronchitis
- Urinary Tract Infections, e.g., cystitis, cystourethritis, pyelonephritis
Exiben is an antibiotic from the cephalosporin group used to treat various bacterial infections. It is effective against respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, ear infections, sinus infections, throat infections, and certain sexually transmitted diseases. Exiben can be taken with or without food, but it should be taken regularly at evenly spaced intervals as prescribed by the doctor. Completing the full course is crucial, even if symptoms improve before completion. It doesn’t work against viral infections like flu or the common cold.
