Fourderm cream{Miconazole(2.0 %)+Chlorhexidine(0.2 %)+Clobetasol(0.05 %)+Neomycin(0.5 %)}is a topical medication used to treat skin infections caused by bacteria, fungi, or both. It combines four active ingredients: Clobetasol, Neomycin, Miconazole, and Chlorhexidine. Clobetasol helps reduce swelling, Neomycin and Chlorhexidine fight bacteria, and Miconazole treats fungal infections.
- Clobetasol propionate (0.05%): This is a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by blocking the production of prostaglandins — chemical substances that trigger inflammation.
- Neomycin sulphate (0.50%): It is an antibiotic that prevents protein synthesis in bacterial cells, leading to the death of the bacteria causing skin infections.
- Miconazole nitrate (2.00%): This is an antifungal agent that stops the growth of fungi causing skin infections. It does this by inhibiting the production of ergosterol, a component critical to fungal cell walls.
- Chlorhexidine gluconate (0.20%): It is an antiseptic that works by disrupting the cell walls of bacteria and fungi, leading to their death.
