Spinosad acts on the nervous system of parasites. It causes excessive neuronal stimulation, followed by paralysis and death of lice and mites.
When applied to the skin or scalp, only a very small amount of spinosad is absorbed into the bloodstream. Most of the medicine remains on the treated surface, where it acts directly against the parasites. Blood levels are generally very low or undetectable after topical application, including in children. Because systemic absorption is minimal, significant distribution, metabolism, and elimination through the body are not expected.
For external use only. Do not swallow or use in the eyes or vagina.
