Description

Cephalexin is a semisynthetic first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by inhibiting the transpeptidase enzyme, disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis. This weakens the cell wall, causing bacterial swelling and rupture. Cephalexin is effective orally and targets bacterial cell walls by interfering with peptidoglycan cross-linking.

G-Cephalexin is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms, including:

  1. Respiratory Tract Infections: Acute and chronic bronchitis, infected bronchiectasis.
  2. Genito-Urinary Tract Infections: Acute and chronic nephritis, cystitis, urethritis, prostatitis, and prophylaxis of recurrent urinary tract infections.
  3. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Infections caused by Staphylococci and/or Streptococci.
  4. Ear, Nose, and Throat Infections: Otitis media, mastoiditis, sinusitis, follicular tonsillitis, and pharyngitis.
  5. Bone Infections: Caused by Staphylococci and/or Proteus mirabilis.
