Each tablet provides 4 mmol (97.2 mg) of elemental magnesium, supplied as magnesium glycerophosphate (777.6 mg).
Gefomag Chewable Tablets contain magnesium, an essential mineral involved in numerous functions throughout the body, particularly normal nerve and muscle activity. The medicine is used to restore or maintain magnesium levels when the body has insufficient magnesium.
The appropriate dose depends on the patient’s magnesium level, medical condition, age, and individual requirements.
Adults, including older adults:
The usual dose is 1–2 tablets three times daily. Your doctor may recommend regular blood tests to monitor magnesium levels. Patients with reduced kidney function may require closer monitoring and an adjusted dose.
Children:
Magnesium chewable tablets should be given to children only when prescribed by a doctor after assessing the potential benefits and risks. Children may require regular monitoring and dose adjustments.
- Below 4 years: Not recommended because there is insufficient information regarding safety and use.
- 4–12 years: 1 tablet twice daily.
- 12–18 years: 1 tablet three times daily.
Follow the dose prescribed by your healthcare professional and do not exceed the recommended amount.
Contact your doctor or healthcare professional promptly if you experience symptoms that could indicate excessive magnesium levels or an adverse reaction, including:
- Flushing
- Increased thirst
- Nausea or vomiting
- Drowsiness
- Confusion
- Muscle weakness
- Low blood pressure, which may cause dizziness or faintness when standing
- Abnormal or irregular heartbeat
- Difficulty breathing

The safety and effectiveness of magnesium chewable tablets during pregnancy have not been fully established. However, magnesium salts are routinely used in certain pregnancy-related conditions, including pre-eclampsia.
During pregnancy, Gefomag should be used only when a doctor determines that the expected benefits outweigh any potential risks.
Magnesium chewable tablets can generally be used during breastfeeding. Based on extensive clinical experience, magnesium supplementation is not expected to adversely affect male or female fertility.
