Hypen Max SR is indicated as maintenance therapy for essential hypertension in adult patients who are already stabilized on the same doses of indapamide and amlodipine administered separately.
Indapamide is a sulfonamide-derived diuretic related to thiazides. It lowers blood pressure by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the kidney’s cortical dilution segment, leading to increased excretion of sodium, chloride, and—less so—potassium and magnesium. This diuretic effect reduces blood volume and supports antihypertensive action.
Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (dihydropyridine class), lowers blood pressure by blocking calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac cells. This results in vasodilation and decreased peripheral resistance.
