Hydrogen peroxide Topical antiseptic (Antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral) is a mild antiseptic used for treating minor wounds, scrapes, and burns to prevent infection. It can also serve as a mouth rinse to alleviate mild mouth inflammation, such as canker/cold sores or gingivitis. When applied, hydrogen peroxide releases oxygen, causing foaming that aids in removing dead skin and cleaning the area. It is not suitable for treating deep cuts, animal bites, or severe burns.
Hydrogen Peroxide-
- Prevents infections in open scrapes, cuts, and wounds
- Treatment of leg ulcers and pressure sores caused by prolonged immobility
- Liberates oxygen when applied, leading to foaming and cleaning of the affected area
- Produces destructive free radicals of oxygen, attacking pathogen’s cell membrane and DNA, destroying the pathogen and halting disease progression
- External use only; avoid contact with eyes, nose, and mouth
- Wash hands before application
- May cause temporary stinging or redness; consult the doctor if side effects persist
- Avoid if allergic to Hydrogen Peroxide or any components
- Inform your doctor about your medical history and other medications
- Avoid prolonged use (more than 3 weeks)
- Do not use on large, deep wounds or intact skin
- Not for use as an enema or laundry detergent
- May bleach fabrics
