Itogut – Relief for Gastric Discomfort
Itopride Hydrochloride acts as a dopamine-2 antagonist and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. By blocking dopamine D2 receptors and inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, it raises acetylcholine levels, thereby:
- Enhancing gastrointestinal peristalsis
- Increasing lower esophageal sphincter tone
- Stimulating gastric motility
- Accelerating gastric emptying
- Improving gastro-duodenal coordination
Itogut is prescribed for the management of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with chronic gastritis, including abdominal bloating, upper abdominal pain, heartburn, anorexia, nausea, and vomiting.
- Monitor for anaphylactoid reactions (hypotension, dyspnea, urticaria, etc.); discontinue if they occur.
- Hepatic function disorders and jaundice may develop; discontinue if abnormalities appear.
- Prolonged use without improvement is discouraged.
- Caution in elderly patients and those prone to adverse drug reactions.
- For press-through packaging (PTP): ensure the capsule is removed from the blister before swallowing to prevent esophageal injury.
