Lantidex 60 falls under the class of proton pump inhibitors, used primarily to alleviate heartburn resulting from stomach issues like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis. GERD occurs when stomach acid reaches the esophagus, causing discomfort, heartburn, and inflammation. Heartburn manifests as a burning sensation from the stomach to the chest or neck. Erosive esophagitis involves damage, inflammation, scarring, and ulcers in the esophagus.
The medication functions by inhibiting the activity of the gastric proton pump enzyme responsible for acid production. This action diminishes stomach acid levels, facilitating ulcer healing and preventing new ulcer formation.
Adherence to the prescribed dosage of Lantidex 60 is essential. Common side effects may include headaches, gastrointestinal disturbances like diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation, gas, nausea, or vomiting. Most of these side effects are transient and don’t necessitate medical intervention, but persistent symptoms should be discussed with a doctor.
Prior consultation with a doctor is crucial before taking Lantidex 60, especially for individuals with liver disease, osteoporosis, low bone mineral density, or magnesium deficiency. Allergic reactions to any components of the medication warrant avoidance. Long-term use of Lantidex 60 may increase the risk of fractures in the hip, wrist, or spine, necessitating discussions with a doctor about maintaining bone health.
