Levoxin IV Infusion 100ml

Indication

Levoxin is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections. It is also used to treat infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin, and soft tissues, as well as the lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by preventing the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. Levoxin should be taken in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor.

Pharmacology

Levofloxacin is a synthetic, third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic with a broad spectrum. Chemically, levofloxacin is a chiral fluorinated carboxy quinolone. Levofloxacin acts as an antibiotic by inhibiting the enzymes required for DNA replication, transcription repair, and recombination, as well as bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase. In vitro, it is effective against a wide range of gm-ve and gm+ve bacteria.

Dosage:

The standard dose of Levofloxacin Tablets is 250 mg, 500 mg, or 750 mg taken orally every 24 hours. Levofloxacin tablets can be taken with or without food. The oral solution of levofloxacin should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.

Only intravenous infusions of levofloxacin injection should be used. It should not be administered intramuscularly, intrathecally, intraperitoneally, or subcutaneously. The typical dose of Levofloxacin injection is 250 mg or 500 mg administered over 60 minutes every 24 hours, or 750 mg administered over 90 minutes every 24 hours. Because Levofloxacin injections are only intended for single use, any unused portion should be discarded. Other medications or additives should not be mixed with Levofloxacin Injection or infused through the same intravenous line.

Adults:

• Acute sinusitis: 500 mg once per day for 10-14 days, or 750 mg once per day for 5 days.
• Chronic bronchitis exacerbation: 500 mg once daily for 7 days, 750 mg once daily for 3 days (uncomplicated), or 750 mg once daily for 5 days (Complicated)
• Pneumonia from the community: 500 mg once daily for 7-14 days, or 750 mg once daily for 5 days.
  Simple urinary tract infections: 250 mg once daily for three days.
• Infections of the urinary tract and acute pyelonephritis: 250 mg once daily for 7-10 days.
• 500 mg once daily for 7-10 days for uncomplicated skin and soft-tissue infections.
• Infections of the skin and soft tissues: 750 mg once daily for 7-14 days.
  500 mg once daily for 7-14 days for enteric fever.
• Diarrhea, cholera, shigellosis, and enteritis are all common illnesses. 500 mg for a mild to moderate case (single dose). Cases of moderate to severe severity: 500 mg once daily for three days

Children:

• 10 mg/kg every 12 hours for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
• Children over the age of five: 10 mg/kg every 24 hours
• Sequential therapy (intravenous to oral) may be used in each case at the discretion of the physician.

Administration:

• Squeezing the inner bag firmly checks the container for minute leaks. If leaks are discovered or the seal is broken, discard the solution.
• If the solution is cloudy or has precipitated, do not use it.
• In series connections, do not use flexible containers.
• Close the administration set’s flow control clamp.
• Remove the cover from the port at the bottom of the container.
• Insert the administration set’s piercing pin into the port with a twisting motion until the pin is securely seated.
• Suspend the container from the hanger.
• Squeeze and release the drip chamber to maintain the proper fluid level in the chamber during Levoxin Injection infusion.
• Using a flow control clamp, you can adjust the rate of administration.
• You’ve been given Levoxin to treat bacterial infections in your eyes.
• Even if you feel better, do not skip any doses and complete the entire course of treatment.
• Immediately after instilling the medication, apply pressure to the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute.
• To avoid contamination, avoid touching the tip to any surface or your eye.
• To avoid dilution, wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye.
• When first used, it may cause temporary blurring of vision. Use caution when driving or operating machinery.
• Wear contact lenses only until your infection clears up.
• Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the medication.

Interaction

There have been no reported drug interactions.

Contraindications

Patients who have a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients should avoid using this product.

Side Effect

This medication is generally well tolerated. Diarrhea and a slight yellow discoloration of the skin are possible side effects of beta-carotene treatment. Vitamins C and E have been linked to diarrhea and other gastrointestinal issues.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Consultation with a physician has been recommended it. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeed.

Precautions & Warnings

During the administration of Levofloxacin, the following precautions should be taken:

• Levofloxacin Injection should only be given as a gradual intravenous infusion over 60 or 90 minutes, depending on the dose.
• A sufficient amount of water should be consumed when administering Levofloxacin to avoid concentrated urine.
• In the case of renal impairment, dose modification should be used while administering Levofloxacin.

Keep the temperature below 30°C and away from light and moisture. Keep out of children’s reach.
