Lino-M combines two antidiabetic medicines that work through different mechanisms:
Linagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases the levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). These hormones help the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar levels are high and reduce glucagon secretion, leading to better glucose control.
Metformin Hydrochloride belongs to the biguanide class and helps lower blood sugar by reducing glucose production in the liver, decreasing glucose absorption from the intestine, and improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin.
Lino-M is prescribed alongside a healthy diet and regular physical activity to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both linagliptin and metformin is considered appropriate.
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it can increase the risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis.
- Stay well hydrated, especially during exercise, vomiting, or diarrhea.
