Luliconazole, the active ingredient in Luiz cream, is a topical antifungal belonging to the azole group.
- It inhibits the enzyme lanosterol demethylase, which is essential for the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes.
- This inhibition disrupts fungal cell membrane formation, exhibiting strong fungicidal activity both in vitro and in vivo against dermatophytes, Candida albicans, Malassezia spp., Trichophyton, and Epidermophyton spp.
Luiz cream is used for the topical treatment of:
- Interdigital tinea pedis (athlete’s foot between the toes)
- Tinea cruris (jock itch)
- Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body)
Caused by fungal organisms such as Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum.
