Lytex Syrup 100ml is a medication belonging to the class of mucolytic agents used for treating acute and chronic respiratory diseases associated with excess mucus. In acute respiratory diseases, dry and irritating cough, hoarseness in laryngitis, or chest burning due to bronchitis are commonly observed, followed by the formation of wet mucus and continuous coughing. Chronic respiratory diseases present both dry irritating cough and wet cough with mucus. Lytex Syrup contains Ambroxol which works by thinning and loosening phlegm in the lungs, windpipe, and nose, breaking down the acid mucopolysaccharide fibers that make the mucous thinner and less viscous, thereby removing sputum efficiently by coughing. The medication is usually taken as prescribed by the doctor. Side effects such as nausea, taste change, and numbness in the mouth, tongue, and throat may occur, but they usually resolve over time. Patients should inform their doctor if they are allergic to the medication or any other medicines, are pregnant, breastfeeding, have kidney or liver problems, or have a stomach ulcer, asthma, or cough for a long time. In children below 6 years, the liquid form is preferred as tablets are contraindicated.
